Drivers & Vehicle Owners FAQ

Everything you need to know about being a driver or adding your vehicle on BakkieHi.

BakkieHi offers opportunities for individuals with or without a vehicle.

If you have a bakkie (vehicle):

Register via the BakkieHi Driver App or through our website. You will need to upload:

  • Certified Driver's Licence
  • Certified ID Copy
  • 3 images of your vehicle
  • 1 professional profile photo
  • Proof of address
  • Proof of bank account
  • Roadworthy certificate or vehicle ownership documents
If you do not have a vehicle:

You can still register as a driver and receive opportunities to drive vehicles for fleet owners. Required documents include:

  • Certified Driver's Licence
  • Certified ID Copy
  • Proof of address
  • Professional profile photo

All applications are reviewed within 24 to 48 hours.

Important: All approved drivers with vehicles are required to purchase BakkieHi branded working overall suits. This is mandatory — drivers will not be able to accept trip requests unless the uniform has been purchased and verified on the platform.

Trip availability depends on demand within your area, so a fixed number of trips cannot be guaranteed. However:

  • Trip requests are available daily
  • Requests are sent to drivers within a specific geographic area
  • Drivers accept trips in real time

Your activity level directly impacts how many trips you secure.

Drivers are paid Weekly, typically every Monday. You can also:

  • Request withdrawals anytime via the BakkieHi Driver App
  • Instant withdrawals may include a small service fee

No. Drivers can operate anywhere within South Africa and this depends of demand in each area.

Yes — BakkieHi offers optional Goods Insurance that covers your items in transit, from the moment they are collected until they are delivered. We strongly encourage opting in so you can claim for damage or loss if something happens during the move.

How it works:
  • Optional cover tiers can be added during checkout for higher value goods:
    • Tier 1 — Assets Value Up to R 20 000
      At Premium of R 2 600
    • Tier 2 — Assets Value Up to R 50 000
      At Premium of R 6 980
    • Tier 3 — Assets Value Up to R 100 000
      At Premium of R 25 000
  • For full house moves, comprehensive insurance is available — all items must be listed with their declared value.
  • Claims are subject to the policy terms set out in our Terms & Conditions. Uninsured goods are not guaranteed.

BakkieHi does not directly insure vehicles. However, through our partners, drivers can access discounted insurance options and delivery-appropriate cover.

Yes. BakkieHi drivers are required to maintain a professional appearance. Branded uniforms are mandatory for active drivers and are available for purchase through BakkieHi.

Booking is simple — done through our website at www.bakkiehi.co.za in 3 easy steps:

  • Select your service (e.g. On-Demand Delivery)
  • Choose a suitable vehicle for your needs
  • Enter pick-up & drop-off locations, plus contact details

You can also add Manpower, Goods Insurance or a Pre/Post Clean service. You'll receive a real-time quote instantly, then proceed to secure online payment.

Pricing is based on:

  • Distance between pick-up and drop-off
  • Type of vehicle selected
  • Optional add-ons: Manpower, Goods Insurance, Pre/Post Clean

All costs are calculated in real time before payment — no hidden fees.

Pre or Post Clean is an optional add-on service designed to help customers clean spaces during a move. You can:

  • Choose whether cleaning happens at the pick-up or drop-off location
  • Specify the number of rooms to be cleaned

This ensures your space is ready before or after your move.

Yes. You can track your delivery in real time through your dashboard. Simply log in to your account and access live tracking updates for your trip.

BakkieHi does not transport dangerous or prohibited items, including:

  • Firearms and weapons
  • Explosives
  • Hazardous or illegal materials

Any item that poses a safety risk will not be accepted.

Customers are strongly encouraged to opt in for Goods Insurance when booking a delivery. Insurance ensures you can claim for damages if they occur — claims are subject to policy terms and declared item values.
