1. Introduction

BakkieHi is dedicated to protecting your personal information and informing you about how we use it. This Privacy Policy applies to transactions and activities and data gathered through the BakkieHi Application(s).

Please review this Privacy Policy periodically as we may revise it without notice. Each time you use the BakkieHi Application(s) or provide us with information, by doing so you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy at that time.

We store and process your information on computers located in the Republic of South Africa that are protected by physical and technological security devices. If you object to your information being transferred or used in this way, please do not use or access our Services.

2. Our Security Precautions

Your BakkieHi profile or account is password protected so that only you and authorised BakkieHi employees have access to your account information. You are required not to share your password with anyone. BakkieHi staff will never proactively reach out to ask for your personal account information, including your password.

BakkieHi makes every effort to ensure that your information is secure on its system. We have staff dedicated to maintaining our privacy policy and periodically reviewing application security to ensure every BakkieHi employee is aware of our security practices.

BakkieHi has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information under our control. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure — you do so at your own risk.

2.1 Third-Party Links

BakkieHi may contain links to other web or mobile applications. BakkieHi is not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party applications. We encourage our users to read the privacy statements of each application that collects personal identifiable information.

3. How BakkieHi Uses Personal Information

We use your email address and other personal information to:

• Efficiently operate the BakkieHi Application(s) and Services
• Contact you in connection with your transactions and other activities (including confirmation emails and important notices)
• Forward trip information to you from other users
• Suggest potential matches between Users and Drivers
• Retain photos submitted for transaction history, insurance purposes, and statistical analysis

We may keep the photos you submit that are the subject of a transporting or moving request for insurance purposes and for obtaining statistical information for use of the Services.

4. When We Share Personal Information

Your personal information may be passed on to a third party in the following circumstances:

• Transfer of ownership or assets, or a bankruptcy proceeding
• Legal compliance — when disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law or to cooperate with law enforcement
• Safety — to protect the interests or safety of BakkieHi or other users
• Affiliated entities — to our subsidiary and parent companies and businesses under common corporate control

Whenever personal information is disclosed, BakkieHi may also disclose demographic information on an anonymous basis. All affiliated entities that receive your personal information will comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

5. Location Information

BakkieHi may request access to your device's location (precise or approximate) to provide location-based features, such as displaying your current location, helping you find nearby services, improving navigation, and enabling other location-related functionality within the Application(s).

We only access your location after you have granted permission to do so. You may deny or revoke this permission at any time through your device settings, though doing so may limit certain location-based features of the Services.

6. Your Rights (POPIA)

In accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) of South Africa, you have the right to:

• Be notified that your personal information is being collected
• Access your personal information held by BakkieHi
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Object to the processing of your personal information
